April 10, 2017
We are looking for highly motivated students who will be excited to share their knowledge and learn from this interaction with the students and academics from the Fashion Institute of Technology on Friday, April 21, 2017! (Limited to no more than 20 students)
The Baker Invitational will be an exciting day interacting and teaming with FIT students to learn beyond the classroom. You’ll spend the morning in a workshop in FIT’s textile laboratory focused on hands-on learning of apparel production from the visionary development of the initial concept to the delivery of the finished product. Professors from FIT will showcase innovative technology such as 3D Body Scanners, and explain business practices including production planning and financial controls. In the afternoon, Wharton Professor Barbara Kahn will teach the JCPenney Case (explores the department store’s struggles in recent years). Students will read the case in advance of the Invitational and meet in mixed Wharton/FIT teams that day to discuss the case and present their findings.
Interested students should prepare a one paragraph statement on the value you see in this interaction with FIT’s School of Business and Technology. You need to be committed to spending the day in NYC (leaving campus at approximately 6:30AM and arriving back to campus at approximately 5:30PM on April 21). Transportation to and from campus to NYC and lunch will be provided.
Please send your statement and resume by April 10 to: firstname.lastname@example.org (Students will be notified by 4/12/17 of their acceptance)
