This summer, I had the chance to intern at West Park Cultural Center, a nonprofit that uses arts and culture to strengthen community bonds in West Philadelphia. My main focus was on securing sponsorships for two of their most impactful programs: DanceLogic and the West Park Arts Fest.
DanceLogic is a unique program that blends dance with computer coding, inspiring young girls to explore both their artistic and technical talents. I helped create a sponsorship deck to attract funding, emphasizing how this innovative program empowers participants with confidence and skills in both the arts and technology. This experience taught me how to effectively communicate the program’s value to potential sponsors, highlighting its role in fostering creativity and career-building skills.
At the same time, I worked on sponsorships for the West Park Arts Fest, a vibrant annual celebration that showcases the diverse arts scene in Philadelphia. The festival is a day of music, dance, and art-making activities that brings together people of all ages. By developing proposals and reaching out to local businesses, I helped secure the support needed to make this community event a success.
Through these projects, I saw firsthand how arts and culture can bring people together and create lasting impact. My time at West Park Cultural Center was an enriching experience, where I learned the value of building partnerships and witnessed the powerful role of community in driving positive change. I am excited that I was able to partner with Wharton’s Philadelphia Summer Internship to experience this phenomenal nonprofit.
