The University of Pennsylvania may award credit or waivers (advanced course standing) to students who have taken Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or other internationally recognized examinations prior to matriculation at Penn. Scores warranting University credit vary by department.
- Matriculating students seeking credit for Advanced Placement (AP) exams must have official score reports sent directly to the Office of the University Registrar by The College Board, code #2926. Scores included in your application to Penn need not be resent.
- Matriculating students seeking credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) exams must have official score reports sent directly to Penn Admissions by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
- Matriculating students seeking credit for A-Level exams must bring their original A-Level certificates to Penn Admissions in order to have their scores evaluated for credit.
The charts below provide guidance on how external exam scores, credits, and waivers can be applied to requirements within the Wharton undergraduate curriculum.¹ A full list of external exam credits and waivers can be found on the Penn Admissions website.
