W3i Course Proposals

Standing Wharton faculty are encouraged to submit a proposal for a W3i Course, domestic or international, via the form below.

The Division is currently accepting proposals for AY 2026-2027 and AY 2027-2028. Proposals for AY 2026-2027 should be submitted by July 1, 2026. Wharton Undergraduate Division will make decisions and notify faculty by August 1, 2026.

W3i Faculty Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design the course, in consultation with Vice Dean Cait Lamberton, to align with the Undergraduate Division’s Explore + Apply framework.
  • Design the itinerary, in partnership with the Division, sourcing site visits and discussing visit details with participating firms.
  • Attend the required W3i trip leader training.
  • Coordinate with the Division to schedule and lead required pre-departure sessions and communicate details to students.
  • Approve final itinerary at least 3 weeks before departure; later changes subject to feasibility.
  • Participate fully in the itinerary and reside with students throughout travel.
  • Submit expense reports within 10 days post-program per guidelines (economy airfare covered).
  • Submit final grades within 15 business days of program end.
  • (OPTIONAL) Review applications and make final admissions decisions with the Division.
  • (OPTIONAL) May request a TA, who can do the following:
    • Provide academic support only (no logistical/administrative role)
    • Adheres to responsibilities and funding/credit terms as defined by the faculty member.
    • Only travel with the group if there is a clear academic purpose for them to be on site throughout.
