Mind the Gap

Piloted in spring 2026 as part of Career Readiness @ Wharton, Mind the Gap is an alumni engagement opportunity that connects students with Wharton alumni for an informational interview.

Fall 2026, Mind the Gap is coming to the Second-Year Experience.

Students will choose an alumni executive and be matched for a 30-minute, one-on-one interview. Following the conversation, each student will receive candid, personalized feedback on their networking readiness.

More than 60 experienced Wharton alumni have been carefully selected to engage one-on-one with W’29 students. These alumni will provide students with a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences that will inspire them to create their own path forward as they close the gap between classroom and career.

Timeline:

  • Alumni interviews will take place October 9 – November 13
  • Registration is due by 11:59 pm on September 30
  • Following your interview, you will receive a comprehensive personalize feedback report
  • The individual results will only be shared with you in a personalized report

Of the spring 2026 student respondents:

  • 100% would recommend Mind the Gap to first-year students
  • 100% wanted to speak with more Wharton alumni
  • 100% found the Mind the Gap experience to be helpful

Wharton Story: Mind the Gap: A Mentoring Program Pairing Undergraduates With Alumni

The Mind the Gap program launched as a partnership between Wharton’s Undergraduate Division and GapWell, a company founded by Seth Kessler, WG’99, and Lee Sosin, Kessler’s undergraduate classmate from Brandeis University.

Mind the Gap helps Wharton students develop and strengthen critical networking skills by putting them into a real-world networking scenario with a Wharton alum.

After several conversations about GapWell’s mission, the School’s Undergraduate Division and Kessler connected. The result was a custom program to help students practice the networking skills they learned, preparing them to launch into internships and eventually full-time careers.
