These short-term, half-credit courses focus on various industries and cities and take place during school breaks.
AI and the New York City Tech Sector (January 6-10, 2025)
This program will feature visits to tech-sector businesses, extracurricular activities, and networking opportunities with alumni in the NYC area.
This course is tailored to students interested in exploring AI investment and deployment as generative AI (genAI) becomes more prevalent. We will examine the competitive landscape firms face when creating, deploying, and using AI models and applications. Leveraging New York City’s dynamic tech ecosystem, students will visit companies to observe how new business technologies are implemented and assessed.
Through site visits and panel discussions, students will gain firsthand insights into how businesses address the commercial, technical, social, and regulatory challenges related to AI. Topics will include understanding the AI stack in genAI and navigating its challenges and constraints. This immersive experience will enable participants to critically analyze the tradeoffs involved in the business use of AI and information technology.
New York City Entrepreneurship (January 6-10, 2025)
The half-credit course will expose students to entrepreneurship and innovation in the context of both startups and established firms in the NYC area. Its goals include:
- Providing students with an understanding of New York’s entrepreneurial and innovation-focused business environment.
- Helping students gain a working knowledge of cutting-edge business practices through lectures and direct interaction with business managers.
- Preparing students for entrepreneurial careers—in startups and established firms.
- Connecting students with alumni and other entrepreneurs and innovators.
The Los Angeles Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Media Sectors (March 10-14, 2025)
This program will feature visits to businesses, panel discussions, extracurricular activities, and networking opportunities with alumni and other business leaders in the Los Angeles area.
The program is designed to:
- Provide students with an understanding of the LA arts, entertainment, sports, and media business environment.
- Help students gain a working knowledge of the these industries and direct interaction with business leaders.
- Help prepare students for careers in the arts, entertainment, and media sectors.
- Connect students with alumni in the industry.
