Dean’s Awards

Each year the Wharton Undergraduate Division seeks to recognize some of its outstanding graduating seniors through the four Wharton Dean’s Awards. Wharton seniors, graduating in August 2018, December 2018, or May 2019, are encouraged to apply for one of the four awards. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

The Dean’s Award for Excellence: This award is presented to a student who has thrived at Wharton both academically and outside the classroom. Criteria for this award include, but are not limited to, academic excellence and integrity, demonstrated scholarship, and overall contribution to the Wharton community.

The Dean’s Award for Innovation: This award is presented to a student who identified a specific need in the Wharton community or beyond and devised a creative solution to address that need, therefore applying the Wharton spirit of innovation.

The Dean’s Award for Service to the Wharton School: This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated dedicated leadership and has made a substantial contribution to improving the quality of the Wharton undergraduate experience.

The Dean’s Award for Service to the University of Pennsylvania and the Greater Philadelphia Community: This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated dedicated leadership and has made a substantial contribution to Penn and the greater Philadelphia community.

All applications will be reviewed by a panel of faculty, staff, and students.

Finalists will be notified via email and interviewed for the Dean’s Awards on Friday, February 15. Students selected to receive the awards will be honored at the Wharton Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony on Sunday, May 19 and will be invited to lunch with Dean Garrett.
